Sir. Alex Ferguson returned to Old Trafford after turning 75 years old

On December 31st of 2016, the legendary manager Sir. Alex Ferguson turned 75 years old and one of the things that he did on his 75th birthday was to return to Manchester United, the club where he became an icon after lifting 38 titles in 26 years.

It’s hard to argue that Sir. Alex Ferguson has been one of the most successful or maybe even the most successful one in the history of the sport. It was back on May of 2013 when the Scottish tactician decided to end his managerial career and even though it has been over 3 years since this occurred, Manchester United is still struggling trying to find someone who can follow his legacy.

Every manager that has arrived after Sir. Alex Ferguson has not been able to have the same kind of impact and prosperity as the Scottishman. David Moyes, Ryan Giggs (Interim Manager), Louis van Gaal and the current manager Jose Mourinho are all of the coaches that have arrived but have struggled to fill in the boots that were left by the Scottish tactician. FERGIE BACKS FLETCHER

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson paid tribute to Darren Fletcher, who has been an influential part of the United team over the last five years, by saying that his contributions have been immense to the team. He has also said that the midfielder will definitely recover from his problems, which have prevented him from playing first-team football in the last two years. Fletcher has been suffering from a chronic bowel inflammation problem. It has prevented him from being in the United team on a regular basis. In fact, in the last two years, he has made just 13 appearances in all competitions.

Prior to that, Fletcher was one of the first names the team sheet from Sir Alex Ferguson. The Scot retired after more than 25 years in charge of the club. During his farewell speech at Old Trafford last season, Ferguson mentioned Fletcher. This speech has left the 29-year-old with no words to speak about the manager. He has praised Ferguson for his achievements, while also saying that it shows about the man because he had time to speak about him when the celebrations were all about his achievements at United for the last quarter of a century.

“I was just blown away. For him, at that moment, to take the time to think and to speak of me was fantastic and it just shows the measure of the man. It speaks volumes of him to think of other people when the whole occasion was about him. It was just one of those moments that shocks you because you just do not expect it. It was emotional. More than anything it gave me a great determination to come back,” said Fletcher.

Even though he will miss the start of the season, he is confident of returning to first-team football as soon as possible.

FERGIE HAILS TEAM

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed his team for securing victory in a Premier League match played against Fulham on Yesterday at the Craven Cottage Stadium.  Manchester United defeated Fulham by 1-0 in that match. Wayne Rooney was the one who scored the only goal of the match in the 79th minute.

With the help of this victory, United has now had 62 points in 25 matches which is 10 more than Manchester City. However, City has played only 24 matches so far and it will take on Liverpool today.

Talking to the reporters in the post match press conference, Ferguson said, “I am really satisfied with the way boys played today. Fulham is not an easy team to beat on its home ground. They have a fantastic record at this venue and most of the opposing teams have struggled here. Today also, they gave us a tough fight. But, we battled hard and came out victorious at the end.”

“Now, we have got a 10-point lead which is great. I am very happy about it.”

“Our defense has been under the scanner in this season, but, today, the defenders were the real heroes. They performed really well today.

When asked about the performance of Jonny Evans who made a comeback after recovering from injury, Ferguson said, “He looked untroubled on the pitch which means that he has got rid of the hamstring problem completely. He contributed today by setting up a goal which would have boosted his confidence.”

“Overall, I am very happy with how things went today. But, again, I want to say that there is no room for complacency at this stage. We need to continue playing like this in all the upcoming matches.”

Manchester United’s next match will be a Premier League encounter against Everton at Old Trafford on 10th of February.

FERGIE IS A TRUE GENIUS

The former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish praised the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson by saying that he is a true genius. Even though there have been a lot of reports and interviews about his management style, the Scotsman has said that people only know only the tip of an iceberg when it comes to Ferguson. Ferguson has spent the last 26 years managing Manchester United, during which time he has managed to make that club incredibly successful in English football and in Europe. At 70 years of age, he is widely expected to retire in the next few seasons.

Alex McLeish has pointed out to the incredible detailing put in by the manager Sir Alex Ferguson in every aspect of the club. At Manchester United, Ferguson not only oversees the tactical and coaching aspects of the team, but also the transfer policy and the youth team setup as well. As a result, he has been able to be incredibly successful by not only having youth teams success, but also success in the form of players being brought in for a transfer fees as well. Alex McLeish is currently out of work after being sacked by Aston Villa during the summer. He has said that he is hoping to return to football management as soon as possible.

“I sincerely hope that those Harvard academics who worked alongside Sir Alex Ferguson realise how fortunate they have been. I can absolutely guarantee this morning that any coach worth his salt will be trying desperately to source that blueprint for success. They will not be able to replicate the genius of Sir Alex Ferguson – no matter how hard they try,” said the former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish who used to play under Sir Alex Ferguson when he was at Aberdeen.

FERGIE IS CONFIDENT

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his confidence that his side will be able to maintain their nerve in the remaining few Premier league matches. Manchester United recently secured a three point advantage over City in the title race. United and City are the two teams playing for the title this season. Following the City’s draw with Stoke city during the weekend, Manchester United went out and won against Fulham on Monday night. This result helped them bring about a three-point advantage at the top of the table, although United still have a match to play at the Etihad stadium.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been in situations like this on numerous times, and he expressed his confidence at being able to maintain the focus over the remainder of the Premier league matches. Ferguson also said that as we get near the finale of the season, it is not about the squad strength, but more about the mental strength that matters in the title race. The Scot said that he believes that Manchester United have the mental strength in abundance, but is yet to witness the same with Manchester City. City have already shown weakness under pressure, and are yet to convince him in the title race.

“City have done exceptionally well all season to get to where they are at the moment. They have a chance. Like us, if they win all their games they will be champions, but it is much easier to say that than to actually do it. At this time of year some of the teams at the bottom of the league know they have to start winning games too, because if they don’t they will be relegated,” Ferguson said during the weekend. United have the much easier run-in of the two teams, with Blackburn Rovers up next.

GIGGS IS AMAZING

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that no one will be capable of matching the achievements of Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs. The 38-year-old Welsh star will be making his 900th appearance for Manchester United shortly. Speaking at the extraordinary occasion, Sir Alex Ferguson said that there will simply be no other player capable of matching the records of Ryan Giggs. The Welsh midfielder retired from international football many years ago, but it is simply beyond belief to see a 38-year-old player still playing at the highest level of football. Ryan Giggs is also simply not an addition in the Manchester United squad, but one of the important members as well.

He was crucial in Manchester United winning the Premier league title last season, which was incidentally the record 19th title for Manchester United. Ryan Giggs is the only player to have scored in every season of the Premier league since the inception in 1992. Ryan Giggs is also regarded as the greatest player when it comes to having the most number of club titles. One of the areas where Ryan Giggs has been left wanting is in the international scenario, where Ryan Giggs has not won any major trophy with the Welsh national team.

“It is my personal view, and not everyone will agree with me because we all have our favourites, that even if you take away the longevity, being in the Premier League for as long as he has, achieving what he has; no other player will do it. Obviously Maldini was a magnificent player but there is a distinction,” Ferguson told reporters. Ryan Giggs will be making his 900th appearance for Manchester United should he feature in the match against Ajax. Manchester United will be taking on Ajax in the last 32 of the Europa league.
